Fall into autumn by repurposing your summer denim with a baroque printed jean! Often the only thing that eases our transition into cooler months is the thought of stepping into more fashion-y, less jean short-y, flip floppy outfits. But when seasonal shopping becomes a bummer on the wallet, it’s time to take your summer style the extra mile with a little DIY. Check out the poppin’ patterns we created on these Express denim staples…with some paint and baroque inspired stencils, these jeans are reborn as a fall fashion dream come true.

To create:  Place the floral stencil onto the desired area of your Express jeans. We recommend starting from one end and working your way to the other. With a sponge pouncer fill in the stencil with white fabric paint. Peel off the stencil and let the paint dry for a few seconds. Repeat the steps until the entire surface of the jean is covered with a baroque pattern.

Let your footwear speak with a Carmen Miranda accent when you rock these Charlotte Olympia inspired wedges. A little bit of paint, a little bit of Sharpie and a lot of cha cha cha is all it takes to add a sweet and quirky accent to your heels. With summer coming to a close, there’s no reason not to go out with a tutti-frutti bang!

To create the kiwi: Paint the wedge a bright green. Use a green sharpie to draw sunburst strokes around the top of the wedge. Draw another layer of sunburst strokes with a gold sharpie. Once dry, use a black sharpie to draw scattered seeds around the gold area.

To create the watermelon: Use a pencil to draw a 1/2” outline around the top of the wedge. Paint the wedge pink and the 1/2” area green. Once dry, draw seeds scattered across the pink area with a black sharpie.

To create the pineapple: Use a pencil to draw a 1/2” outline around the top of the wedge; fill in with bronze paint. Paint the bottom area yellow. Once dry, use a brown sharpie to draw criss-cross lines across the yellow area. In the middle of the criss-cross diamond shapes, draw a tiny upside-down v-shape. Use a pencil to outline first for precision. Create a pom pom by gathering a bunch of green raffia, approx. 30 pieces 3” in length and tying another piece at the center of the bunch. Fasten excess on the center piece of raffia to the front strap of the shoe. Trim ends for a cleaner look.

P.S. - to protect your masterpiece, spray the painted wedges with a sealer.

If we’ve got one tip to offer up for your Fall accessory collection…make sure it ROCKS. Chanel had an all-out crystal ball with its Fall 2012 collection, as Karl Lagerfeld decked heels, cuffs, hems and even eyebrows with brilliant moonstones & rocky gems.  Fuse abstract amethyst, moody-hued quartz and shimmering fluorite to create a bold yet (literally) precious D.I.Y. hair accessory for a look that packs the power of Kryptonite both day and night.

To create:  Cut a rectangular piece of leather (or leather-like) fabric to the approximate size of your barrette. Glue the backside of the fabric piece to your barrette with extra-strength glue - we used E6000. To avoid excess glue and drips, use a craft stick. Finish by embellishing with an array of quartz and crystals. Let dry completely, then style for an instant eye-catcher.

Gems are truly truly outrageous, even more so when they satisfy not only your eye, but your sweet tooth, too.  Diamonds are a girl’s best friend and glitter is a crafty girl’s ultimate go-to. There’s simply no such thing as too much sparkle, so dress up your desserts and wow the guests at your next fancy fete with a decadent and elegantly edible DIY.
To create:  dust candy mold with different shades of edible glitter, using a clean paint brush. It magically sticks to all sides! Melt white chocolate following the package’s specific directions. Use a small spoon to pour the melted white chocolate into the mold.  Place the filled mold into the refrigerator for at least a few hours until set completely.  Once hardened, carefully remove from the mold. You may want to add a little extra hint of glitter on the bottoms or on sides.

These are so awesome!
